Re: Dish Size Poll

Bigger is better as long as you have the room. My 10' I got from Tek does very well but has some trouble with the occasional 16-psk feeds as well as high FEC feeds if they are running reduced power. A little bigger capture area is always nice. I think the 10' is a good trade off as it gets 'most' of...

Re: Grounding your Dish!

I drilled a hole about a foot off the ground in the pole and then used a one step bigger self tapping screw and attached a #8 stranded wire run to the service ground as you don’t want a ground loop potential as that can cause nasties using a separate ground rod. I then used JB weld to cover the self...

You can do that thru your browser you know. That is more of an end user issue. Using Firefox for example you can adjust the zoom level for different websites and it will remember it each time.

Re: DISH is sending Demand Letters (up to $7500) to IPTV 'subscribers'

I'd tell them to go piss up a rope myself. They figure a number of people will just agree to pay them without much hassle which is a win for them. And then if they file a lawsuit they figure you won't show up and they get a default judgment against you so another 'win' for them again without much co...

Re: Outright Collapse being forecast for DirecTV and Dish in 2019

Twenty years ago when I moved to the boonies I took a DTV pizza dish package I bought at a local megastore with me. Set it up myself and was pretty happy with it. Everything SD and 4:3 of course. I ran into a guy that owned the local corner store and he had a hacked DTV card. I think he jtag'd it ev...

It might work well for Orby as customers that quit Charlie and Dave start searching for alternatives. A $100 box and $40 a month with no contract should be rather attractive to a number of people that just want some basic channels to watch that can't stomach a two year contract and over $100 a month.

Re: Bell Canada wants to Jail Streamers, Tax Netflix and Regulate Amazon

Bunch of sharks in the water fighting over the piece of meat getting smaller every day. Ten or fifteen years ago if you didn't have cable there were few options other than to go with satellite or OTA with the three local channels. Fast forward and there are many different options for 'tv'. These com...

Re: The real facts about 5G and recommended C-band antenna sizes

This in general is very positive for us as it means that the bulk of the channels most of us are interested in are confined to a small part of the arc that minimizes obstructions as has been mentioned. In my case I'm limited by trees on both the east and west ends of the arc and to have the bulk of ...

It's going to bite us in the butt if it hasn't already that just about all electronics are made overseas now.
