Arc Extension

Post by Costactc » Sat Oct 11, 2014 8:32 am

My 10' Channel Master bud is presently arcing from 11-127w. I use my 8' Fortec solid for the circular sats from 11-53w so the fact that I cannot scan sats from 131-139 west is a waste for me. I plan to loosen the main clamp on my actuator and push it up about 1/2" and add an additional part of steel to where the the main actuator is attached to the dish. The latter will ensure that the motor and dish do not meet when I am nearing the end of my arc.

I will be doing this with my good neighbour this morning. As long as my arc starts at approximately 31.5w, where the first linear c band sat is located, then I will be able to extend it past the present 127w to accomodate those 5 sats from 131-139.

Not a bad idea. Actually, some good ITC channels like NESN (transmits NHL feeds) on 131, Sprout HD on same, a bunch of channels on 135 and Networks on 137. Usually nothing on 133 (except ESPN Regional feed I believe), but Fox tends to open up their muxes on this sat a couple times of year with a few dozen HD channels. Always a treat when these are open! ;)

Also hundreds of radio stations on 139W is that is your thing.

Well worth the effort. To be honest with you, not much to watch on 31.5W, 34.5W and 37.5W anyway. Might as well start from 40.5W and go to 139W.

I ended up slapping the actuator onto the right(west) side for the first time. My new arc on my 10' channel master bud is 31.5-135w. My house obstructs 137 and 139w, I will add a side feed which should bring those 2 sats in.
