1995 HTS 70 System

Post by Bobcat863 » Sun Dec 07, 2014 3:37 pm

I have a Houston Tracker system 70, 10 ft Winegard dish with Von Weise actuator that I bought in 1995. Have not used this system since 2001. Finally got the remote repaired and rescanned all the sats in. I only have 2 channels (F3 ch 7 and C4 ch 9 with no sound) I am assuming that the HTS 70 is useless at this time??

The Dish still moves fine. Wondering what is out there for my ol BUD and where to look for equipment. I have DTV now, but $140 a month is getting expensive. Thanks for any help.

Lots of open channels on c band, including the nets. Just google what you need, you'll get many choices.

Your Tracker will make a good dish mover, but will not recieve any of the many, many dvb signals that are on both C band and Ku band. You will need a new reciever and a one way splitter conected between the tracker coax to split off the signal to the new reciever. There are many sites that sell recievers. Get a reciever, and we will walk you through the conection steps. Check out the reciever list on this site, as they are compatable with the newer dvb signals. Jess out in California

Hi Bobcat863,

Please check out store for DVB-S2 receivers.

We carry Azbox Premium HD+, Skybox F5S, Openbox S10/11, Dream Box and many more models.

All these receivers work well with the newest digital HD signals. The Azbox Premium HD+ receiver can also decode 4.2.2 signals. Some HD broadcasters (like CBS, CBC Canada, sports, etc.) use this format for their feeds and is useful to have in a digital receiver.

Thanks for chiming in Tek2000. The reciever prices are very reasonable. The recievers that I use most are the Pansat9500[out of production] and my AZ prem Hd[no blindscan] which is also out of production. Bobcat; Hope you get your system up-dated! You won't find HBO,SHOWTIME, or or other like chanels, but there is a big varity of ch's that are much better[and free] compaired to DTV. Jess out in California

Thanks for the info. I have several FTA boxes (Coolsat 4000-6000,Pansat 2500,Extreme) from the Dish days. Would these boxes work??? I do not believe they are HD though.

Bobcat863; The recievers you listed will work on some of the fta, but you won't get the HD or the dvb-s2 or the dvb-s2 8psk. Go ahead and hook one up and see what you can get. Did you check out the recievers on TEK2000 yet? Jess out in California

I did go to Tek2000 website and read the FAQ's and looked at the receivers they have. Looks like the AZ Box Prem is a very good box and Tek2000 supports that box with Firmware/Utilities etc. I will try my Ol' FTA boxes and see what I get. I live in So Cal. Are u close to me???

Check out the receivers I have listed in my sig. The x2 premium III is quite inexpensive and works real well and the x2 premium mini which I am testing at the moment.

Don't know if I am close or not but I live in Ceres, Ca. It is right next to Modesto, Ca., pretty much right in the middle of the state. There is another person on this forum that lives in Salida, Ca. just north of Modesto. I think I read his post over in the "dish" section. He bought one of the TEK 2000 dishes. Jess out in California
