I have an 8ft. However to just purchase one, I'd go with a 10.

Re: Dish Size Poll
All,
I added 13.5' and 15' too, but I think I nulled the poll results, so you'll have to vote again. I voted for the 12 footer because I've outgrown my 10 footer!!
We got the 13.5' and 15' arriving in our warehouse in 2 weeks if anyone is interested. Also, plenty of 12 footers. Been out of stock on these larger antennas for a while now...calling all TV/Radio stations and c-band enthusiasts!

Re: Dish Size Poll
Bigger is better as long as you have the room. My 10' I got from Tek does very well but has some trouble with the occasional 16-psk feeds as well as high FEC feeds if they are running reduced power. A little bigger capture area is always nice. I think the 10' is a good trade off as it gets 'most' of what your looking for without breaking the bank whereas you get into the bigger dishes and of course the dish costs a lot more and so does the shipping.
10' Tek C-band dish, 1.2 meter KU band dish, ASC1 mover, Octagon/Zgemma/Edison dual band STB's. Running OpenPli on all.

Re: Dish Size Poll
I am in Michigan and use a 10' mesh dish I bought 3 years ago. It works good for me. I can watch all the satellites even the discovery channels on 43 west. Very happy and so I voted for the 10' dish.

Re: Dish Size Poll
I would prefer that all services be moved to Ku so that I can have a smaller dish such as a 1.2 meter. That said, I've been using 12 footers for 2 decades now and would consider a larger dish for C-band but only if the city would give me a permit for a larger dish.
