ABC migrating to HEVC (4:2:2) today

Post by dishcrank » Wed Aug 14, 2019 12:50 pm

Just a heads up if you lose the ABC feeds on Galaxy 16 (99W) and 3C (95W). If they go HEVC 4.2.2, then everyone will lose them. If they go to plain HEVC 4.2.0, most consumer stbs that support the HEVC codec will still decode them. Heck, they may even stay MPEG-4 for a while longer if all their affiliates aren't ready yet.

A computer card works just fine if they go 4:2:2 HEVC.

95w and 99w regular abc feeds have switched over. Contrary to what you read elsewhere, you don't need an expensive computer to watch them...A regular laptop works just fine.
ABC has a backup feed 4:2:0 99w 4140 v 30000 that is just up full-time for the transistion.

Feeds are 4:2:2 HEVC which the Edison can not get a picture. Transponder on 95w is the same as before. 4000H

I have a GT MEDIA 4k satellite receiver. And the abc does work but only in the AVC 1280x720 I get 5 of them.
My box reads the other stations as HD. I can only hear the audio. That must be 4:2:2

So if you have a 4k satellite receiver. It should work

Both ABC transponders have now migrated to 4.2.2. You will need a PC card with hardware acceleration to view the mux without stuttering.
