CBC news / Radio Canada suppose to be available for free except on C band

Post by fatso » Sat Mar 14, 2020 5:03 pm

I read this on the CBC website today:

https://www.cbc.ca/news/cbc-radio-canad ... -1.5498097

They are making CBC news available for free to Canadians on all the pay systems so they have up to date information about the corona virus pandemic. Unfortunately, they forgot about us rural folks who use c band antennas to watch tv. I did a blind scan of 107w, 111w and 119w and found nothing. I haven't checked the ku band yet, but I doubt it will show up FTA anywhere.

Canadians should be up in arms over this scandal. Our tax dollars pay for this network and it is used to enrich Bell, Shaw and the other cable outlets. Shame on them. If you are a rural Canadian and just as angry about this as I am, please send the CBC an urgent message. Remember, that twit Trudeau spends your hard earned tax dollars housing Somali refugees by the tens of thousands, but has no money to make a CBC feed available to tax paying Canadians. They expect you to shell out thousands of dollars to purchase equipment from the pay tv operators and pay a subscription too. I bet all those Somali refugees get free tv too. :frown

I have plunged back in My Shaw Direct receiver that i got from the LTSS program offered a few years ago. It has been on the one preview channel that works that is like the Shaw Cable Access channel! I can see the channels highlighted in the guide but it says to call Shaw's 888 #

No thank you

Unfortunately the bozo's that run the CBC out of Toronto don't know that there is most of Canada does not get the Taxpayer funded CBC with out a subscription service. You can get OTA CBC in Ottawa, Toronto and other big city's but not here.

I get Radio in my area, but people on CBC make's Hate Speech daily against Christian and Conservative people, and I will listen to the Liberal Party apologists when I want to get angry!

Now we can get our news from Info Wars News channels instead LOL

The CBC News feed was available on AnikF1R c-band for many years until they pulled it. :frown

You can try blind scanning the ku band on AnikF1R for any CBC feeds. There may be some left especially with this covid-19 emergency. Only other option for Canadians right now are the CTV feeds on AnikF1R 4020 V 30000. Always showing that twit of a PM Trudeau Jr. :mooning coming down the steps of his cottage pretending to be in corona isolation and reading some prepared script handed to him by his handlers.

Bell should open CBC radio canada on 91w.
Anyone with an 18” dish and a fta receiver could view it. I still see a lot of houses with satellite dishes even though fiber has been installed in most neighbourhoods now.

Try the "Select Satellite" drop down menu at the top left of this page. 114.9°w loads fine for me.

Thank you dishcrank. I never thought to use that link. The link shows that 114.9 W has 26 channels - (and yes, I realize that they are encrypted) - but is it possible to get this satellite? It appears to be oriented for the west coast. A check of the EUTELSAT115 WEST web site shows that it is possible for me - (I live in Fort Worth central north Texas) - to get this satellite. Whilst waiting for a reply, I will go ahead an try to receive this satellite and will advise you of my results at a later time.

Found a satellite - but - it is from MEXICO. It has eight channels, which are:- OPMA_service, Canal Del Congress, Canal Del Congress, Justica, Canal 1 - kids, Canal 2, Canal, 3, and Canal 4.

Found this satellite DEAD-CENTER of 113W and 117 W.

Can anyone tell me the name of this satellite?

Why cannot I find 114.9? is it a special satellite that requires a special receiver?

I thank you.
