Hey,
If you aim your dish at 110W you will find a Sat which is backwards !
Using a standard Linear polarized FSS ( 11.7 - 12.2Ghz. ) L.O. 10.75 Ghz. LNB
You'll find a Sat that is transmitting in the BSS band ( 12.2 - 12.7 Ghz. ) but
using Linear polarization. I found this to be rather odd ! It's as if it's hiding behind
Echostar 10 / 11. It's not ITC.

costactc,
Did you take a look at these TP's yourself ? I guess Dish has used linear polarization
elsewhere but this is unconventional and why isn't this shown on Lyngsat ?
I guess there must be a lot of isolation between circular and linear polarization to
be able to do this.

Re: Something unusual
These are not linear signals. You are receiving the Dish Network circular polarity transponders on a linear polarity LNBF. There is an approximate 3dB attenuation when receiving circular with a linear or visa versa.

titanium,
That's what I thought at first. I contacted my friend who is a professional uplinker and told him what
I found. He immediately jumped into action with all the engineering equipment available to him
( he's also the head engineer at PBS chan. 8 in Phoenix, AZ.) Looking at the BSS band 12.2 - 12.7 Ghz
with Linear polarization on a spectrum analyzer he was able to verify these TP's.
Also the LNB that I'm using is 2 LNB's in one unit with circular polarization for 12.2 -12.7Ghz and
Linear polarization for 11.7 -12.2 Ghz. with 2 separate L.O.'s 11250 / 10750 I F's for both are
950 - 1450 Mhz. The outputs are separate and I have a 22khz switch where I can select either
output. When I select the BSS band ( circular ) I can't see them. However when I select FSS ( Linear )
they appear with good strength / quality. Another thing....... the receiver I'm using ( openbox S10 )
is QPSK the TP's on Echostar 10 / 11 @ 110W are 8PSK turbo so I can't see them anyway. So I'm 100%
sure their not Echostar 10 /11 @ 110W that I'm seeing !

Re: Something unusual
I used to scan in circular tp with a linear lnbf on Echostar 9 in the past but I haven't attempted it in years.

Re: Something unusual
Your linear LNB is picking them up even if they are circular polarity. Circular polarity is in fact nothing more than two Linear Polarity signals: one H and one V that are 90 degrees out of phase. That is why a linear LNB can pick them up, although there will be a -3dB or -50% signal attenuation since your LNB only tunes the H portion or V portion of the signal.
Re: Something unusual
elko,
If these are circular why do I only see them when I have the Linear polarization selected ?
I can't see them at all when I select Circular polarization ! I'm beginning to think that my dish
isn't pointed at Echostar 10 / 11. Perhaps I'm seeing Anik F2 @ 111.1
The freqs are wrong in that case........ This is too weird !
