HH Motors for C-Band?
Re: HH Motors for C-Band?
Do you really need one? A 30 inch actuator can move a 10ft dish from 140W to 30W. Isn't this enough?
Re: HH Motors for C-Band?
Some of us would like to go down to 15 West and this is generally not possible with a linear actuator. Unfortunately, there are no HH motor manufacturers for C-band. I know, I've looked (only commercial and they are extremely expensive).
The solution I've looked at is to use a second LNB that is offset from the focus by 10 degrees. I can get my actuator down to 25 West before it flops and the 2nd LNB can see to 15 West! It works (after some fine tuning), but keep in mind that the signal will be slightly attenuated. Still, I can now scan the birds at 22, 20, 18, 15 West without an HH motor!
Going the other way, I can make it to 131 West. I was thinking of adding another offset LNB to get 133, 135, 137, 139, but most stuff is encrypted on those sats. Still, I might try it some day.
