Titanium LNB

Post by dannyc » Mon Jun 16, 2014 9:09 pm

Is it worth getting? Is C-Band reception any better over a generic LNB?

It works as advertised, but you will only receive C-Band. Personally, I use a combo C/Ku band LNB on a 10ft mesh dish.

Either go with a 10ft dish and C/Ku LNBF, or setup 2 systems:

1. Motorized Ku-Band only Dish (1m)
2. Motorized C-Band, either 8ft or 10ft

When you use a dual LNBF (both C-Band and Ku-Band) on the same dish, it has the effect of reducing signal quality for both, so you have to oversize the dish to compensate.

It is slightly better, but not by much.

It will not turn a 6ft dish into an 8ft or 10ft.

im using the Titanium C1WPLL, it replaced a DMSI BSC-421
i did see a slight improvement across the arc, but my favorite thing about it is that transponders always scan in with the exact correct frequency. :)

Slight improvement on certain sats but also quite disappointing on circular c band sats, my unit is now collecting dust.

The Titanium LNB is a PLL (Phase-Locked-Loop) LNB and nothing special. In layman's terms, it uses a special circuit to generate the RF downconverter (LO) frequency which is immune to drift and thus always precise.

The LO frequency of non-PLL LNBs will drift over time, but some actually have a better RF amplifier stage and do outperform the Titanium LNB.

A well designed C-band LNBF would attempt to minimize the input noise and optimize the antenna illumination. This, however, is easier said than done.

Isn't there a mod that can get rid of this spammer?
