4K Documentary Channel on 65°West

Post by dishon » Mon Jan 28, 2019 8:20 am

Try

DVB-S2
4770 V
SR 45000
FEC 5/6
Pilot off

From Blue Ant Media. The StarOne C1 footprint extends into the southeastern United States. Signal is strong in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Carolinas. Reception is likely not possible elsewhere unless you have an extremely large dish.

You can find the beam for Star One here:

Most of the USA cannot receive this bird, which is why we don't list the programming in our satellite charts. But if you do live near the USA-Mexico border, by all means, you should scan 65°W, 70°W, 75°W and a few others intended for South Americans. In general, a 10ft dish will be on the threshold of reception for an EIRP of 36. For every 3dB below this threshold power, you need to double your dish size. So for an EIRP of 33, you would need a 14ft dish (because 14ft^2 / 10ft^2 = 2). To receive EIRP of 30, you would need a 20 footer!!!

If you look through Satfacts, can't remember which year, Bob Cooper was able to lock North American satellites between 107°W - 135°W on the arc, all the way from New Zealand with a 16ft dish!!!
