zegamma h7 does it have blind scan???

Post by Cnut » Sun Feb 11, 2018 8:23 am

Hi everyone,

I have seen the manual for the zegamma h7, which shows it has a "full service scan." Does this STB have blind scan capability? Just wanted to know before I pull the trigger on buying one. I do alot of blind scanning, mostly for sports feeds.
thanks for any info in advance

Cnut

There is a plugin for blindscan, but it gives an error that the manufacturer hasn't enabled something in hardware.

Other option is software blindscan. You can make a list of frequencies and symbol rates and do an automatic scan. For examples, I got this list to find the 'fat' transpoders:

3720H 30000
3720V 30000
3740H 30000
3740V 30000
3760H 30000
3760V 30000
3780H 30000
3780V 30000

3800H 30000
3800V 30000
3820H 30000
3820V 30000
3840H 30000
3840V 30000
3860H 30000
3860V 30000
3880H 30000
3880V 30000

3900H 30000
3900V 30000
3920H 30000
3920V 30000
3940H 30000
3940V 30000
3960H 30000
3960V 30000
3980H 30000
3980V 30000

4000H 30000
4000V 30000
4020H 30000
4020V 30000
4040H 30000
4040V 30000
4060H 30000
4060V 30000
4080H 30000
4080V 30000

4100H 30000
4100V 30000
4120H 30000
4120V 30000
4140H 30000
4140V 30000
4160H 30000
4160V 30000
4180H 30000
4180V 30000

It only takes a minute to automatically scan this list and I'm finding new muxes all the time.

There is no plugin for this. Use DreamEdit and create a satellite folder (call it blindscan) and enter the frequencies above. Then go to Manual Scan and select Single Satellite and select the folder you created. Hit OK and it will do a 'blindscan' of those 'fat' transponders.

You can create other folder with other common symbol rates. Use the same frequency list, but change the symbol rate. Other common symbol rate include: 30000, 31250, 29270, 28800, 28000

So if you create 5 folders with the above symbol rates, you will always find the 'fat' transponders which have the HD and 4K channels. This is probably 90% of the channels. You can create more folders to find common 'skinny' transponders too, like 10000, 15000 and 20000. Keep in mind though, with these smaller symbol rates, the center frequencies also shift to the 'middle' of the transponder. So use 3730, 3750, 3770, 3790, 3810....4190.

Fascinating!

So, by adding the list of transponders to find the "fat transponders", does that mean you edit the satellites.xml files (all of them?) to include a block like so:

<sat name="Fat Scan 30000 (DVB-S2/C-Band) (30 minutes)" flags="0" position="-1401">
<transponder frequency="3720000" symbol_rate="30000000" polarization="0" fec_inner="0" inversion="0" modulation="0" system="1" pilot="2" rolloff="0"/>
<transponder frequency="3720000" symbol_rate="30000000" polarization="1" fec_inner="0" inversion="0" modulation="0" system="1" pilot="2" rolloff="0"/>
<transponder frequency="3740000" symbol_rate="30000000" polarization="0" fec_inner="0" inversion="0" modulation="0" system="1" pilot="2" rolloff="0"/>
<transponder frequency="3740000" symbol_rate="30000000" polarization="1" fec_inner="0" inversion="0" modulation="0" system="1" pilot="2" rolloff="0"/>
.
.
.
</sat>

Or am I missing something, here. Thank you for sharing this information. Very interesting.
