Blind Scan issue with OpenATV6.3 and Edision OSMIO4K+

Post by dishcrank » Sat Sep 28, 2019 8:35 pm

There is a problem with the blind scan function on the new Edision OSMIO4K Plus when upgrading to OpenATV6.3. I reverted back to OpenATV6.2 and both the DVB-S2X and DVB-S2 tuners work fine with blind scan.

There is a thread about the problem at openatv.

Easiest way to reflash is to stick a USB thumb drive into the stb and connect to the internet. Then do:

Menu > Setup > Software Management > Flash Online

The stb will download the available firmware. Select the latest OpenATV6.2 version.

Hello All,

I attempted to use the online flash program in the Edison Mio 4K Plus receiver that came installed with 6.2 to upgrade it to 6.4. The online catalog only offered 6.2. So I downloaded the latest image from openATV, 6.4 released on 4/9/2020, and carefully installed it by
1. copying the osmio4kplus folder on the root of an older usb thumb drive.
2. Shut down the receiver.
3. Pulled the power cable out of the receiver.
4. Inserted the thumb drive into the USB1 slot on the side.
5. Plugged the receiver's power cable back in.
6. Followed the instructions displayed by the flash install program as it started up.
7. Prayed that there were no power failures during the install.

The install succeeded. Also noticed that AFAICT the blind scan works as expected. Also noticed the EPG program is not as elegant as the 6.4x build on the ZGemma. The build appears to be stable and works quite well. I will continue to upgrade every month or every time the build increments to a new decimal number. The network tools are much improved, as is the quality of the Edison Mio 4K Plus.

A satisfied customer,

P.S. The blind scan on the Edison Mio 4K Plus appears to find every transponder up there, which is awesome. Nice!
