c-band and ku-band signal

Post by mrel » Fri May 22, 2015 7:59 am

Hello
using a 10 foot dish with combo c/ku band Lnb get signal on 99 west and 103 west satellites.
For some reason cannot get any signal on 101west (SES-1) satellite on both c/ku bandis this satellite (SES-1) not working?

You should be able to pick up 101w with a 10footer fairly easily.

Try the MeTV transponder: 3974V/5924

It is the strongest signal for me, but everything on 101w is a bit weaker than stuff on 99w and 103w.

You probably just need to tweak you dish settings a bit and it will come in.
12' Cosmos Primestar (refurbished)36" SuperJack Actuator
Chaparral Corotor Feed (Norsat 8115, 4106A)
ZGemmaH7 UHD, OctagonSX88 HD, Edision UHD, DSR-6000, DSR-6050
Clarke Belt: 22W - 133W

Rusty
Reading your post sound like this satellite 101 west SES-1 is a weak satellite ,you probably located in conus 48 state.
This 10 foot dish is located in Honolulu , maybe signal is to weak to reach Honolulu.
Been moving the dish back and forth between 99 west and 103 west satellite could not pickup any signal from satellite SES-1.
Thank for relpy.

Indeed, signal would be very weak in Hawaii:

I'm surprised you get 103w from your location cause the beam is almost as weak:

Can you lock all transponders on 99/103w? Can you see other satellites along the arc? I am curious to know how well a cband dish functions in Hawaii!

You want to know which transponders can receive in honolulu on 99/103 west.
Using a Micro HD by GEOSATpro receive( Junk receiver cheat price freeze lot had to unplug to reboot to get unfreeze) to log transponders .
On 99 west C-Band these frequency receive 3813,3820,3900,3931,4000 Ku side 11800.
On 103 west C-Band 3840,4091,3912,3920 KU side 11940,12144,12180.
When look at TVROSAT Chart there is many cannot pickup.

That is still pretty good mrel, considering you are outside of the main beam. You would probably need a 12ft or even 14ft dish to get the rest of the transponders.

Do you get stuff from Australia or Asia?
