Re: HDNet Movies and AXS TV
These are master HD broadcasts transmitting around 20 Mbits/sec of uncompressed MPEG4 video.
If you have a 70 inch TV you will really enjoy HDNet Movies!

Re: HDNet Movies and AXS TV
Yes, master signals are true cinema video quality!
The HDNet signal above is actually only 18Mbits/sec MPEG2 and not MPEG4. Sure, it looks great, but there are other master signals encoded in MPEG4 and with even higher bit rates.
In order to truly appreciate the picture quality of C band master broadcasts, you need a 70+ inch flat screen tv.
For those with the ability to log the transport stream, check the bit rates of some of the DTH providers. For example, DISH at 72W and 77W encodes standard definition signals at an average rate of 500Kbits/sec (yes, I know it is pathetic) and HD signals at an average rate of 2-3 Mbits/sec. They use MPEG4 compression.
In other words, they remove about 90% of the original information from the master broadcast!!!

Re: HDNet Movies and AXS TV
Yes those services such as Dish, Direct and Cable butcher the signals like you would not believe before retransmission. One of the reasons why Rainier pledges to offer quality not quantity. Our EasyVu DTH one satellite platform will be keeping master quality picture on the channels we turn around, and be broadcasting our own masters from master fiber sent directly to the teleport for us.tvroadmin wrote:Yes, master signals are true cinema video quality!

Re: HDNet Movies and AXS TV
Yup, gone for now.
Might be back during the Christmans holidays though. Lots of channels are broadcast ITC during the holidays so technicians don't have to interrupt their holidays and run back to the headend in case of problems.
