VHF low band ch 2-6 antenna
I know that most markets across north america are moving away from VHF low tv band but i need to know if someone can direct me to a company that builds very large hi-gain antennas for fringe reception, it's a long shot as the channel I want is 126 miles but I think I might be able to receive CJDC tv at night at my location, if I can I would be able to finally get a second local channel other then CTV, CJDC is ch 5 analog so I don't have about issues with digitiled signal I'll be happy with half snow

If you own a large c-band dish (minimum 12'), add a butterfly feed at the convergence region and aim your dish directly at the station. You can find dimensions for such a feed at this site

Channel master use to manufacture such antennas in the past. I don't think anyone does today, but I could be wrong. Your other option is to get a very high-gain yagi, but performance isn't guaranteed. You can also get 2 or more yagis and phase array them together.

I like the idea! Never thought to use a 12 foot dish and there just rotting in the back yards up here, I did look at some other yagis but all the ones I could scrounge are 2 element ( SRC used to transmit on ch 6 locally here ) either way I think you have a point on building one myself, I mean really it would be nice as that channel has true local news to use up here in the peace river country so it's a gem, CTV is the only channel available over the air where I live, once I finally have my 10 dish setup I can pick it up on ANIK F1, but CJDC has no free feed other then there transmitter
We use to have 3 good channels, now down to one with our supposed "digital transition", it's still analog and I highly doubt they will convert it

There are about 10 CTV local channels with mostly different programming airing on Anik F1R (107.3w). You might as well point the dish upwards and watch the digital satellite master feeds. In addition, the weather network and AMI networks can be found here. For your location, I think a 6' dish size would work.

Re: VHF low band ch 2-6 antenna
Thank you tek2000, yes I'm aware of the c band CTV feeds, I have a 10 foot dish but it's not installed yet I have not had the time, I will get it put up, I'll be looking up your shop here soon i found some parts on your site I might need
I don't think I'm gonna try to get CJDC, they stopped there affiliation with CBC, so it's kind of a waste, I've pretty much abandoned my hopes for CBC not much of a public broadcaster if I have to pay for something my taxes already pay for.....

Re: VHF low band ch 2-6 antenna
A CBC news feed and NHL feeds are also on 107W, but they are part-time. If you want a lot of CBC feeds, you'll need a 4.2.2(mpeg2) receiver and ku setup. You can find them on 107W and 111W, in the ku band. I agree with you completely, CBC should have at least one state run channel in the clear at all times to disseminate Canadian culture and news just like every other country has, otherwise, people are liable to get the impression that Canada is some kind of backwards inaccessible place in the frozen tundra.

Re: VHF low band ch 2-6 antenna
Well since CBC is publicly funded it's should ALL be decrypted, access should be available to all, there smart phone app is horrible and there website is garbage, plus they don't post there live iptv feed, they tell us to get bell tv or Shaw direct and if you can't afford those options try to tune in to a cbc "radio" station if you are in range ........now i don't know why I make big deal out of it but the idea that it should be available to all takes precedence, the whole Idea of this thread was to Inquire on the possibility of receiving a VHF low band ch that use to be affiliated but only recently found out they cut ties with CBC, so I'll get what I can get
Still thank you to all that put there 2 cents in this thread I appreciate the help!

Awesome information,
Thank you. I will try some Ku blind scans on 107 and 111, and see if I can find them.
Much appreciated,

Re: VHF low band ch 2-6 antenna
belter-one,
CBC feeds use to be on 107W (lots of them), but due to budget cuts, they left AnikF1R.
Try the following:
114.9 W (ku band)
12006 H 11440
You'll find the french ITC CBC feeds here which show Habs games. Do a blind scan of this bird for other NHL games. I think this is their new bird for all wild feeds (e.g. news, sports, cbc, etc.).
Other CBC:
101W
4020 H 28000
Encrypted and intended for cable outlets.
97W
3990 H
9700
CBC Atlantic feeds. Mostly encrypted but the odd ITC CBC newsworld feed pops up. They also have their radio stations here
97W
3970 H
13000
Slim pickings compared to previous years, but like I said the CBC budget got slashed big time!
